It’s always such an awesome feeling when one of your friend’s work is acknowledged on a high platform. My friend Leslie Foster (IG) recently created a beautiful experience that was filmed where the California fires had scorched the earth. I’ve worked with Leslie for over a decade now, and one of the things that I’m constantly learning from him is that sometimes, you can just let art be organic - not everything has to be meticulously shot-listed and story-boarded.
Sometimes, art is just a feeling.
The film Etude #1 was just recently accepted into the La Jolla International Fashion Film Festival - watch it below!
From Leslie’s site:
Etude # 1 was created with dancer/choreographer Keva Walker and was filmed on location at Leo Carillo State Park in the burn scars of the Woolsey Fire, which had just swept through Malibu weeks before. The film incorporates the power of wardrobe, using fashion as a symbol and a ritual element, intertwined with dance to honor the land, the loss, and the healing to come, as well as to honor the Tongva people, to whom that land belongs.
